What would really stink would be if Pitt weren't also able to get out. I wonder what would happen? 13 teams for a year?

That's exactly what would happen. Not a huge issue...just more annoying than anything big.

Looks like Pitt secured an agreement to leave early as well. I was reading an interesting article earlier about how the ACC will look to split up the conference schedule each season since it'll be unbalanced with each team playing 9 games. The article suggested that FSU would be guaranteed to have 5 home games years that we play at UF. It also mentioned that in order to try and balance it out, years a team only had 4 ACC home games they would play their cross division rival at home. Now all of that was unofficial, so we'll have to wait to see what really happens but I think it'd be logical.

The schedule plan you mention does make sense. Let's hope that happens.

The ACC has a chance to be solid like in the 90's. UVA and NCST are otw up. Va.Tech, Clemson and FSU are top 15 programs already. Miami due to geography will be back. UNC is in good shape once they get this probation behind them. Ga.Tech scares any HC with that triple option. Pitt has been ranked a few times the past few years and can be solid. If Cuse, Maryland (who was ranked in 2010), BC, Wake can get back to just slightly above average it would help too.

I don't disagree with the possibilities. My concern is the focus of some of the schools on improving their football program. You have to invest serious $'s in football and right now many of them are focusing on bball first. I agree about UNC and Miami, but they are going to be in a hole for a few yeats with the sanctions.

Well, so far it looks like a smart decision for the ACC. Syracuse blows the game vs. NW and Pitt loses to FCS Youngstown State.
Geez...
