How much does this hurt our chances?

We have depth there, but there is no denying he was the biggest leader on the field for our defense. Tank needs to step up big time. MEJ and Casher will probably burn their 'shirts and Newberry and Stevens need to play like seasoned veterans. It hurts, but it can be mitigated as long as the aforementioned step up. Werner is a terror.

Honestly Tank has a higher ceiling. He is the strongest on our whole team and fast. A physical athletic freak.

Part of me wonders if in a really roundabout way this could be, well, I can't say a positive, but at least not entirely negative. From reports it sounded like MEJ wasn't too pleased with sitting out the game, so now if we have to burn his redshirt, perhaps that will ease whatever tensions were there. I mean, even if he got upset and transferred after the season or something it wouldn't kill us, but I don't like losing top prospects for no real reason.

Well, if he feels he was 'entitled' to anything when he arrived then there is a bigger issue Fisher is having to deal with. It sounds like MEJ needs to mature a little and see the bigger picture. Football at this level is no where near anything at the high school level. It is a team sport first and if he is not taking care of his individual business then there is now way he is ready to help the team.
With that being said, I don't think (or maybe I hope) it is not a serious thing like wanting to possibly transfer. I just think he is getting a dose of reality and having his dad around should help the maturation process.

That's true, I completely forgot his dad is here.
