Every year there's the argument about which conference is the best. As of late it seems that the SEC has produced the most dominant teams, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the toughest conference top to bottom.
I needed a little break from studying, so I decided to tackle that thought. To compare conferences, I decided to list each's best 4 teams and worst 4 teams (since there are different numbers of members). I then compared the team ranked at each spot with those from other conferences. I then tallied the results and ultimately came up with this order:
1. Big 12 2. SEC 3. Pac 12 4. ACC 5. Big 10 6. Big East 7. MWC 8. CUSA 9. MAC T10. SBC/WAC
The Big 12 and SEC were fairly close, but there's no doubt when you compare the bottom teams which is better. The bottom 4 for the Big 12 are Kansas, TTU, Iowa State, and TCU, while the bottom 4 for the SEC are Ole Miss, Miss State, Kentucky, and Vandy. I would favor the Big 12 teams in at least 3 of those 4 matchups. At the top, outside Bama/OU and LSU/WV, I'd also favor OK State over Georgia (as of right now) and Texas over Arkansas.
The ACC and Big 10 were really, really close, but what's hurt the Big 10 so much this year has been the loss of power Penn State, as well as the weaknesses exposed in Michigan and Wisconsin. At the top, I'd take FSU and Clemson over anyone in the Big 10. Ohio State would likely have the edge over VT at the 3rd spot though. The bottom really isn't that much different.

Hahahaha, I think I did pretty well, especially considering I posted that before the B1G's collapse this weekend. I think things are finally shifting around, although I can't say I'm thrilled about next year's additions to the ACC.

I agree. Pitt looks simply pathetic. I think Duke is actually a better team right now. Syracuse actually looks competitive so that 0-2 record is a bit deceiving, IMO.
